Marilyn Monroe aka Norma Jeane Mortenson.
Born June 1st 1926 in Los Angeles California.
As a child Marilyn spent most of her childhood in and out of foster homes and orphanages. Every time she got used to a place or family she was on the move again. Eventually at the age of 16 in 1942 and in order to stop her returning to a orphanage, she agreed to marry Jim Dougherty who she had been dating.
During the marriage Jim joined the merchant navy and spent alot of time at sea as it was now during ww2. This put a strain on the marriage and they divorced in 1946.
Soon after she signed a contract with Twentieth Century Fox in August 1946. She dyed her hair the famous blonde and changed her name to Marilyn Monroe. Borrowing her Grandmothers name.
She married two more times during her acting career. First to Joe DiMaggio in January 1954, then after a divorce married playwright Arthur Miller in June 1956, sadly again ending in divorce in January 1961.
Marilyn was also rumoured to have had relationships with both JFK and Bobby Kennedy.
Sadly Marilyn died of a suspected overdose of sleeping pills at her Brentwood California Home on August 5th 1962, leaving the film "Somethings Got to Give" unfinished. Marilyn had suffered a great deal during the filming of this movie often calling in sick and forcing filming to be delayed. She was eventually sacked but later reinstated to finish the movie.
During her acting career Marilyn made some 30 films, including Bus Stop, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Seven Year Itch, Niagra, The Prince and the Showgirl to name but a few.
She remains to us an inspiration to all who try to overcome personal obstacles.
A truly wonderful person warm caring and childlike one of the biggest screen goddesses of our time.......please light a candle for Marilyn Monroe.

I was so glad you had a page on here as i have always been a fan of yours since being little and listening to my nan going on about icons and heros and now i class you AS my hero. You were fantastic gorgeous funny brilliant sexy everything a girl could only imagine to have/be!
My bedroom is like a shine to you posters canvous pictures everywhere even on the top of my stairs so when everyone walks up you are there staring back i you gorgeous gold dress, i must say the picture is huge so a perfect place to look after people coming up and down the stairs.
My close friend Dale is up there with you, i did a page for him on here yesterday and so far has nearly 300 people looking at the page.
I miss him so can you please tell him how much i miss him and love him and i will never forget him.
He was a brilliant friend and cared for everything!
